Job Description :
Key Responsibilities:
- Precisely record vital signs, assist with Glucometer testing, acquire Breathalyzer readings, and familiarize patients with assistive devices.
- Assist in new admissions, including personal searches and documentation of findings.
- Collect and label urine specimens for drug screens, conduct on-site urine drug screens and pregnancy tests, and maintain and document chain of custody for all patient belongings and specimen collection.
- Assist compromised patients requiring monitoring with ADLs and/or 1:1 observation.
- Monitor patients for changes in mental or physical status, report findings to nursing staff, and document accordingly.
- Educate patients on policies and procedures, and verbal de-escalation techniques to manage patients with behavioral disturbances.
- Notify appropriate staff of any unsafe environmental concerns and opportunities to reduce risk of accidents or potential safety and security breaches.
- Participate in safety and rescue measures when necessary.
- Obtain accurate information regarding each patient's identification and condition, providing it to the nurse in a timely manner.
- Administer prescribed medications following the six rights of medication administration, adhering to any parameters set by the medical provider.
- Under the direct supervision of nursing staff, maintain related medical records.
- Complete additional CNA/CMT/administrative tasks delegated by nursing staff and/or nursing leadership.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is mandatory.
- Certification as a Medical Technician is required, with experience in home health and/or acute/intermediate care facilities.
- A working knowledge of addiction is preferred. Designated members of the nursing team will provide orientation lasting up to three weeks.
- Applying knowledge and understanding of detailed medical instructions is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.
- The candidate must possess a caring and compassionate demeanor, with sensitivity to the needs of chemically dependent patients.
- The ability to prioritize and be flexible within the workflow is essential.
- The candidate must be able to solve problems through effective communication.
- The candidate must work and communicate professionally with an interdisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.
- CPR and BCLS certification is necessary.
- The candidate must keep all certifications up to date, as required.
